New England Realist Art Center, founded in 2003, is a private art center that offers classes and selected exhibitions that promote awareness and understanding of realist art. Our primary aim is to ensure that traditional principles and practices of drawing and painting from life may remain a vital art form in a contemporary culture.
New England Realist Art Center offers workshops and ongoing figure and still life classes from our Boston studio. All classes are observation-based and have the study of nature at its core. We examine long-held artistic principles and how best to apply these principles while working from the life model or still life arrangement. UPDATE Fall 2009 Classes Founder and principal instructor Dennis Cheaney is returning to New York City. As a result Fall classes in 2009 are not scheduled in Boston.
